She is a trustworthy woman.
She is a strong woman.
She is a wise woman.
She is adiligent woman.
She is aresourceful woman.
What comes to mind when you think about these qualities? Are they characteristics you would like to be said about you? I know I do! Did you know that these are all qualities found in a virtuous woman in the last chapter of Proverbs? Maybe you haven’t really studied Proverbs 31 before, or maybe you’ve skipped over it because the woman described seems entirely too intimidating! I mean, she does kind of seem like superwoman, right? That’s just it, though. She’s the ideal woman we can all work toward. I may never select wool and flax (I can just buy those at the store, can’t I?), but I would like to be a woman of character. Maybe I won’t get it all right today. Maybe not even tomorrow, but over a lifetime of following Jesus I pray that my life looks something similar to what we read about in this passage. I want to be resourceful, diligent, wise, strong, and trustworthy. You, too?
As many times as I have read through this chapter, I continually find something new. So many treasures can be found about what it means to be a woman of God in just those 21 verses of Scripture (Prov. 31:10-31). It’s a small passage that packs a big punch!
If you’re curious about just who this Proverbs 31 woman is, or even if you’ve studied her for a long time, we’d love for you to join us on October 7-8 at our annual NOBTS Women’s Conference. The conference is for ALL our NOBTS ladies. Our theme this year is P31: Women of Excellence. Led by our speaker Mary Cox, we’re going to be taking a closer look at what it means to be a woman of godly character. So come with all your questions and curiosities, and let’s explore together what it looks like to be an excellent woman. See you there!
